Games and Collectables
What Games & Collectables Committee do
The committee help boost the entertainment at festivals across the country. Set up in 1985 (as CAMRA Fundraising), they are most recognisable for their 'Every 1?s A Winner' tombola. They are tasked with providing vital support to branches during their festivals, and the mammoth task of entertaining the Great British Beer Festival assemblage. Essentially we have been responsible for fostering the presence of tombolas, auctions, games and collectables stalls at beer festivals and sometimes at Branch events. The activities of the committee also include organising the store, ordering goods, arranging help for local festivals and running the stands at the Great British Festival and organising the National Breweriana Auction.
Whether you run beer festivals or are looking at other ways to bring in income to your branch, CAMRA Games and Collectables (G&C) is there to help. This group of volunteers are CAMRA members who run a service to help branches increase their income and help give beer festivals an added dimension. They are all active in their own branches and beer festivals and therefore understand the issues that CAMRA branches have. Any surplus (after paying for the prizes) goes to CAMRA HQ to help pay for campaigning and the running of the warehouses where the beer festival equipment is stored to the benefit of all beer festivals.
Adding fun to beer festivals
A beer festival is not just about beer. The real essence to a great beer festival is the fun side and games are great at helping people who come for the ale, stay for the entertainment! Research has shown that visitors to beer festivals are expecting more than just beer. They want to be entertained (as well as fed). The games are an excellent way to entertain your visitors that not only doesn't cost you money but brings you in income!
